Arc hosting pumpkin party for Halloween Saturday in A.L.

Arc of Freeborn County is hosting a special Halloween event for children with disabilities and their families this weekend.
A pumpkin party is planned for this Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Arc Activity Room, 407 E. William St., Albert Lea.
Infants to children age 12 who have developmental disabilities and their families are invited to attend. Costumes are welcome, but optional, and organizers request no latex.
Children will enjoy pumpkin decorating, games and prizes. Refreshments will be served. There is no charge to attend the event.
Arc is a United Way agency and provides advocacy and support for people with developmental disabilities and their families.
Several other events this weekend offer fall fun for the family:
Friday
- Beth Tostenson’s original art, Albert Lea past and present water color landscapes and florals, is on display at the Albert Lea Art Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The display will remain open for viewing at the Art Center each Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Nov. 6.
- Come for the pumpkins, stay for the fun at Farmer John’s Pumpkin Patch. Open daily from noon until 6 p.m. through Oct. 31. Located at 90537 273rd Street, three-fourths of a mile south of Highway 251 off Mower-Freeborn Road.
Saturday
- Everyone’s invited to the Ornament Collectible and Doll Show and Sale at Northbridge Mall in Albert Lea from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Enjoy fresh garden produce, fall produce, baked goods, locally-created arts, crafts and more at the Albert Lea Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to noon in the North Broadway Avenue parking lot.
- Discover the message in the maze at the Prairie River Camp Corn Maze, open from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 31. Located at 52792 80th St. in Bricelyn. Take Interstate 90 exit 134 and go three miles south on Highway 253.
- Step back in time at “The Golden Age of Radio” at 7 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre, 125 Fourth Ave. NE, Austin. This interactive performance features classic radio standards from the 1930s and ’40s, along with photos and stories from the era. Vocalist Prudence Johnson and pianist Dan Choinard, frequent guests on National Public Radio’s “A Prairie Home Companion,” will perform live. The Austin Public Library is hosting this free performance.
- Freeborn County Ladies Ducks Unlimited is hosting its 13th annual luncheon at the Moose Lodge. Doors open at 11 a.m. Prizes, games and fun. For tickets, call Michelle Bammert at 507-317-9124.
Sunday
- American Legion Post 56, 142 N. Broadway, Albert Lea, is hosting breakfast from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, fruit juice and coffee are on the menu. Suggested donation for adults is $6. Children ages 6 and under eat free.
- The third annual PipeScreams Concert will be at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. The concert will begin at about 3:36 p.m. and features Halloween music. Audience participation will be welcomed during pumpkin carols and pumpkin trivia. Free popcorn and apple cider will be offered from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Children and adults are welcome to wear costumes. There is no charge to attend and donations will be collected for the Organ Voicing project.
- Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden is hosting a harvest dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Alden-Conger School cafeteria. The menu includes turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, cranberry salad, rolls and homemade desserts. Carry out and delivery orders are welcome by calling Jill at 402-0172. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 5 to 12. Children ages 4 and under eat free. Funds will go to the Redeemer’s Property Improvement Fund.
