Here are highlights in history for Oct. 1, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1991 — A 1985 Buick Century auto stolen in Richfield was found in Geneva. Then the thief took a 1984 Buick Century from a nearby residence which was later found near Osceola, Iowa.
1981 — An editorial was based on the U.S. Postal Service increasing the rate for first class mail from 18 to 20 cents an ounce on Nov. 1.
1961 — A second dog was added to the K9 roster of the Albert Lea Police Department. His handler would be Patrolman Gene Seuser.
