Here are highlights in history for Oct. 5, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1984 — About a hundred 4-H members from Freeborn County were in Omaha, Neb., for the Ak-Sar-Ben Livestock Show.

1974 — Fire Prevention Week was under way in Albert Lea. The main emphasis would be in the schools with education of the students.

1954 — Hollandale voters decided 67 to 41 to dissolve their school district and become a part of the Albert Lea School District.
