Here are highlights in history for Oct., 18, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 —Tribune Staff Writer Anne Jacobson wrote a column about her interesting conflict covering a local trial moved to Waseca County and serving on a jury in Freeborn County at the same time.
1979 — A Tribune ad said a 26-week savings certificate of $10,000 or more would earn an interest rate of 11.716 percent at Albert Lea’s First Federal Savings & Loan Association.
1969 — Albert Lea Mayor Francis Crawford pushed Austin Mayor Robert Enright 50 yards in a wheel barrow after the Austin Packers defeated the Albert Lea Tigers 22-14 in a football game.
