Here are highlights in history for Oct. 21, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1992 — A mock election held at Albert Lea High School showed that Bill Clinton was the winner, Ross Perot was second, and George H.W. Bush were the choices by the students to be the nation’s next president.

1982 — A Chicago Northwestern freight train derailed a mile south of Manchester and 14 cars were off the tracks. About 300 feet of railroad track was also damaged.

1972 — Members of Albert Lea’s Kiwanis Club celebrated their 50th anniversary. Ted Munson was the club’s president.
