Here are highlights in history for Oct. 26, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1990 — Grand opening festivities for the new McDonald’s near the junction of Interstate 90 and North Bridge Avenue was underway and would last through the weekend.
1980 — St. John’s Lutheran Home had an ad in the Tribune that showed the proposed nine story Cooperative Living Center. (Note: This project never became a reality.)
1940 — Freemond Madson Post 447 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars celebrated its 20th anniversary.
