Here are highlights in history for Nov. 11, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1987 — Paul Fogarty and his canine companion, Duke, passed through Albert Lea on a hiking trip which started in Milwaukee, Wis., and would go around North America.
1977 — A ceremony was held at Ramsey Elementary School to dedicate a new mural by Lloyd Herfindahl. This mural honored Chester Nelson who was a custodian at this school for 17 years before his death in 1974.
1947 — A special machine was set up in Hollandale to wash, dry, grade, sort and sack a portion of the area’s 2 million bushel potato crop.
