Crossroads Community Hospice and Albert Lea Medical Center to light the rotunda tree

Crossroads Community Hospice, in coordination with the Albert Lea Medical Center, is inviting the public to “Set Memories Aglow” Sunday evening at the medical center during the organization’s annual tree-lighting ceremony.
People are asked to meet at 5 p.m. in the ALMC atrium, after which those in attendance will go outside for a short program.
Renae Meaney, Hospice coordinator, said the Albert Lea High School Caroliers will perform, and there will be a few memorial readings. The tree in the front of the medical center will be lit, and then people will go back inside to the ALMC rotunda for refreshments.
The event is a fundraiser for the hospice program. Meaney said the program started years ago with a former Hospice coordinator and some volunteers.
“They thought it would be a good way of memorializing those patients we have lost,” she said. “We do the memorial service and also do the tree lighting as part of the holiday season to help family members and loved ones.”
People can purchase a bulb in memory of a loved one, friend or for someone living they wish to honor. The tree will remain lit through the holiday season.
Bulbs are $5 and can be purchased through Sunday and even after the event.
“Set Memories Aglow” pamphlets can be found at the ALMC pharmacy, at the outlying clinics in Freeborn County or at the hospice office in the HealthReach building.
If people have questions, they can contact the hospice office at 377-6393.
