I-35 re-opened

The southbound lanes of Interstate 35 south of Albert Lea were reopened about 2:45 p.m. Monday. However, traffic is moving at a snail’s pace.
All lanes had been blocked between Exit 5, Freeborn County Road 13 and U.S. Highway 65, due to a two-semi collision.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation officials are cautioning motorists to use extreme caution when travelling in Freeborn, Dodge, Fillmore, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha and Winona counties.
Visibility is greatly reduced throughout the region and motorists should beware of blowing and drifting snow, scattered slippery areas and compacted snow on roadways.
Mn DOT snow plow operators are out in force and officials caution motorists to check road conditions, be patient when travelling, allow at least five car lengths behind a plow and to stay alert to plows and vehicles all around.
