Here are highlights in history for Dec. 1, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — The Tribune set up a new drive-up newspaper rack on the First Avenue side of the building. This area would be kept free of snow and ice in the winter. (Note: This service was terminated a few months later.)
1979 — Kurt Fischer became Albert Lea’s first full-time city attorney. Prior to this time the city attorney position was on a part-time basis.
1959 — The Alden High School cheerleaders got new uniforms: white sweaters with a black and gold “A” and white pleated skirts.
