Here are highlights in history for Dec. 15, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1985 — A historical article in the Tribune said Christmas Day in 1905 was a mild day with muddy city streets and country roads.
1975 — A letter to the editor said the novel, “The Catcher in the Rye,” should not be required reading for students in the Albert Lea school system,
1945 — The prediction of a cold wave coming into the Albert Lea area was confirmed with a temperature of 11 degrees below zero.
