Here are highlights in history for Dec. 19, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1988 — A Tribune article was based in part on the move by Leach Sod from 620 E. Main St., to a pair of new buildings near the corner of East Main and Marshall streets.
1878 — Students at Southwest Junior High School raised $1,959 in cash and groceries for the local Salvation Army food drive.
1948 — Several railroad boxcars filled with shelled corn donated by area farmers left Albert Lea. This corn was donated to Christian Rural Overseas Program and would be used to feed hungry people in Europe.
