Here are highlights in history for Dec. 26, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1988 — Albert Lea’s Walmart store said it would match funds raised for the Albert Lea High School summer marching band and band boosters.
1978 — Albert Lea and Clarks Grove firemen had to fight two home fires on Christmas Day. One of the homes belonged to the Russell Moffit family of rural Albert Lea and the second home was owned by Alma Pierson of Ethel Avenue.
1968 — An explosion destroyed a portion of Lakeview Elementary School.
