Here are highlights in history for Dec. 27, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — Albert Lea’s Sub-Santa program purchased over 300 gifts that were distributed to 100 local households. Among the groups involved in this program were Lutheran Brotherhood, American Legion, Elks Club and the Union Center.
1979 — Ann Helgeson and Don Dunford were crowned as Albert Lea High School Snow Queen and King at the Snow Ball held at the American Legion Club.
1939 — Blue Earth High School’s boys’ basketball team ended the Albert Lea High School Tigers three- game winning streak with a 24-22 score.
