St. John’s Auxiliary

St. John’s Auxiliary met Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. in St. John’s Chapel. President JoAnne Fink welcomed everyone. Devotions were given by the Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister.
Auxiliary Secretary Caroline Neale read the minutes of the Nov. 15 meeting. Treasurer Lorraine Schaper gave the treasurer’s report. Reports were approved.
Laeger-Hagemeister made a special presentation to Harriet Knudsen in appreciation of her many years of playing the piano for Sunday services at St. John’s.
Auxiliary officers and committee chairpersons for 2011 were installed by Laeger-Hagemeister. Incoming auxiliary officers are President Carol Rask, Vice President Caroline Sorenson, Secretary Bonnie Schneider and Treasurer Lorraine Schaper.
Volunteer Coordinator Carla Reichel reported that 787 hours were volunteered in November. Day care had 26 hours, two you and me clubs, one sing along and a Thanksgiving parade.
Diane Wichmann, activities director, said many activities are planned for the remainder of December including the Careyaires, family Christmas party, Christmas pageant and New Year’s Eve party. Some programs planned for January are the Fountain Street Brass, a country western program, and a harpist.
Rask read the names of residents celebrating December birthdays: Thomas Aman, Robert Thomas, Barbara Ruble, Debra Trytten, Virginia Thomas, Jewell Thompson, Mona Riss, Olga Kral, Martin Mulso, Lawrence Kimpell, Calvin Dammen, Janice Thompson, Lorna Anderson, Doloris Wire, Hazel Doyle and Marlys Johnson.
Churches thanked for serving Sunday coffee were: Community Lutheran of Geneva, Ascension Lutheran and Bethlehem Lutheran.
The program of readings and songs was presented by St. John’s activities department.
Refreshments were provided by St. John’s Auxiliary and St. John’s Dietary Department.
