Owatonna’s Trisha Benjamin scored 16 points Tuesday as the Huskies beat Albert Lea 72-33 at Albert Lea High School.
The Tigers (1-9, 1-4 Big Nine) and Huskies (6-5, 5-0) each attempted 61 field goals but Owatonna made 29 while Albert Lea made just 10.
“We like to be in those types of high scoring games,” Tigers head coach Sean Gillam said. “But when you’re not hitting shots it creates problems on the defensive end.”
The Tigers trailed the Huskies 46-19 at halftime.
“We’re never happy losing that way to anybody,” Gillam said. “But you can’t fault the fact that Owatonna is a very good team.”
Alyssa Sager led the Tigers with 11 points and five rebounds while Skyler Anderson chipped in nine points and five rebounds.
Bryn Woodside sat out the game with a pulled muscle in her ankle.
The Tigers play again at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Faribault.
