Here are highlights in history for Jan. 2, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1984 — Colleen and Connie Osbeck and Glen Shuldes of Albert Lea were members of the University of Minnesota Marching Band that would be going to Brazil for a series of concerts.
1874 — Evan Wulff, who had retired after 41 years as clerk of district and county courts, would be replaced by Bill Aanerud.
1964 — Con Whelan and Al Fligge retired from service with the Albert Lea Post Office. Whelan was a rural mail carrier for 27 years, and Fligge was a city mail carrier for 40 years.
