Here are highlights in history for Jan. 3, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1985 — Curtis Green would be the new director of Christian Education at Albert Lea’s Zion Lutheran Church.
1975 — About 400 pounds of meat a farmer in Hayward Township had hanging in an open shed was stolen. The farmer said this meat was intended to be meat for his dogs.
1965 — About 1,500 people attended the third annual Christmas tree burning on South Margaretha Avenue. An estimated 2,000 trees, minus decorations, were burned.
