Here are highlights in history for Jan. 11, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1986 — A Tribune article featured Ralph “Beans” Dillon, a member of Albert Lea’s Viking Accordion Band in the 1930s, who moved to Cranfills Gap, Texas, after World War II and gained fame for his lutefisk.

1976 — Sirloin Stockade, 804 E. Main St., was advertising a low calorie dinner for $2.39 which would include salad, toast and either coffee or tea.

1946 — A group of nine World War II veterans selected Irma Kelly to be the city’s snow queen at a dance held at Albert Lea’s National Guard Armory.
