Here are highlights in history for Jan. 13, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1988 — A Tribune article featured the proposal made in 1948 to construct a bridge across Fountain Lake to connect Elizabeth Avenue with North Shore Avenue. (Note: This project obviously never became a reality.)
1978 — The Albert Lea High School wrestlers, rated as second in the state, would be involved with the third-rated wrestlers of Worthington High School.
1968 — Freeborn area residents had a new dial telephone system that included one-party rural lines.
