Tigers swimmers fall to Rockets

Albert Lea swimmers Andy Ehrhardt and Daniel Gould earned first ever individual wins Thursday, but the Tigers swimming and diving team fell 96-68 at Rochester John Marshall.

The Tigers were down 10-4 after the 200-meter medley relay team of Corbin Schultz, Sean Laurie, Isaac Olson and Preston Smith finished second in 1 minute, 59.37 seconds.

Erhardt finished first in the 200-meter freestyle in 2:14.71 and Ben Leisen placed second in 2:17.62 to pull the Tigers within 16-14, but that’s all the closer the got.

In the 500-meter freestyle, Gould finished first in 5:57.13, 8 1/2 seconds ahead of the Rockets’ Cyril Below, pulling the Tigers within 80-45.

The Tigers also placed second in four other swimming events.

The Tigers swim again at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Austin at Albert Lea High School.
