The Freeborn County Auditor-Treasurer’s Office will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays through March 14 to administer absentee balloting, accept absentee ballot applications and cast absentee ballots for both the special primary election for the Ward 1 Albert Lea City Council seat and the special general election for the vacant Freeborn County District 5 seat.
Both elections are March 15.
The Freeborn County Auditor-Treasurer’s office will also be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 12, for people who will be absent from their precinct because of illness or disability, religious discipline or observance of religious holiday or service as an election judge in another precinct.Because of the Auditor-Treasurer’s Office being a polling place location, officials are asking people not to campaign within 100 feet of the Freeborn County Government Center.
Campaigning means that campaign buttons, shirts, signs, bumper stickers, etc., cannot be visible within 100 feet of the building. No campaign matter can be visible while voting absentee.
