Funeral services for Ellen Mae (Maisie) Boyer of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Theodore Catholic Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. James Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Visitation will be held 4 to 7 p.m Wednesday evening at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Theodore Catholic Cemetery.

Ellen died Monday evening, Jan. 31, 2011, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 86 years of age.

Ellen was born March 22, 1924, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Ralph and Marie (Sorenson) Leidal. She attended public school in Albert Lea and was a member of St. Theodore Catholic Church. Ellen was united in marriage to Charles M. Boyer on Feb. 27, 1946, in Albert Lea. She had been employed for many years at Land-O-Lakes and at the Albert Lea Country Club. She also enjoyed providing day care for her granddaughters.

Ellen loved ceramics and belonged to a ceramics club. She enjoyed dancing, playing bingo, travel, her secret pal club and cooking for the holidays. She adored her granddaughters and great granddaughters.

Ellen is survived by her children: Donald (Rick) and his wife Karen of Albert Lea and Barbara Boyer of Plymouth; grandchildren include: Tracy (Eric) Barwald and their daughter, Devin, and Kelly (Nic) Johnson and their daughters: Karli, Kaitlyn and Keira; three sisters also survive: twin sister, Mary Helen Petersen of Albert Lea, Darlene (Dolly) Bird of Freeborn and Gladys Sigurdson of Albert Lea.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles M. Boyer; sons: Thomas Allen and Charles David; brother, Lester Leidal; and sister, Betty Reed.

Ellen was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be sadly missed by her loving family and friends.
