Freeborn County to get up to 4 inches Saturday

Freeborn County is one of many counties in southern Minnesota in a hazardous weather outlook, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow started falling around 9 a.m. in Albert Lea and was expected to continue through the afternoon as a fast-moving system crosses the Dakotas into Minnesota.

Total snowfall was expected to be one to three inches, with the higher amounts up to four inches in south central Minnesota. There was also a slight chance of freezing drizzle.

A high temperature for Albert Lea was 11 degrees for Saturday. Saturday night was expected to be mostly cloudy with a low around 6 degrees. Wind chills could make it feel between zero and 5 degrees below zero. A calm wind of 4 to 7 mph becoming south southeast was forecast.

Sunday is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 30. Wind chills could make it feel between 7 degrees below zero and 3 degrees. There’s a 20 percent chance of snow for Sunday evening.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are all expected to be partly cloudy with highs in the 20s and 30s.
