Here are highlights in history for Feb. 1, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1988 — First District Congressman Timothy J. Penny nominated Brian Yost, son of Dale and Laurel Yost of Emmons, for admission to the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.
1978 — The Albert Lea High School girls’ basketball team, known as the Tigerettes, were defeated by the Austin High School team with a score of 45-40.
1958 — Tribune editor Ken Allen would be going to East Pakistan as part of an exchange program.
