Here are highlights in history for Feb. 3, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1990 — One of the predominate ideas for recycling old newspapers in a contest sponsored by the Albert Lea Tribune and Waste Systems was based on livestock bedding.
1980 — Maude Koevenig, the Tribune’s “Nature’s World” columnist, commented that the area’s rabbit population was gradually declining. She added that this was more evident during the winter months.
1950 — Marie Bjornstad, a blind person, opened a tobacco and candy vending stand in the Albert Lea Post Office lobby.
