Here are highlights in history for Feb. 11, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1991 — Roseann Penn, member of the Freeborn County Humane Society, wrote a column for the Tribune that in part explained how area people could help to assist stray animals.
1981 — Charise Oland, dietitian at Naeve Hospital, was named the Outstanding Young Career Woman of the Year by the Albert Lea Chapter of the Business and Professional Women.
1941 — Former world heavyweight boxing champion Gene Tunney was the main speaker at an event held at the Albert Lea High School Auditorium.
