Here are highlights in history for Feb. 14, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1993 — The Big Island Rendezvous Blackpowder Trade Fair and Gun Show was held over the weekend at the Albert Lea National Guard Armory.
1983 — First Sergeant Joe Parry retired after 36 months of military service. As a World II veteran, he spent 15 months as a prisoner of war in Germany. Most of this service was as a full-time member of the Albert Lea National Guard unit.
1973 — Curtis McCamy, principal of Albert Lea High School, was appointed acting superintendent of School District 241 to fill in for Loren Ward who had a heart attack.
