Here are highlights in history for Feb. 16, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1985 — “The History of Freeborn County” mural by Lloyd Herfindahl was unveiled and hung above the stairway of the county courthouse.

1975 — A Tribune ad featured the individual photos of the 38 members of the Albert Lea Life Underwriters Association. This group was participating in a local Heart Fund program on Feb. 23.

1945 — Mark A. (Shanty) Dolan, manager of the Albert Lea Packers baseball team, would be starting his own business, the South Broadway Filling and Tire Station.
