Wind chill advisory extended

As one wind chill advisory expired at noon today, another was issued for Freeborn County.

The National Weather Service issued the latest wind chill advisory to take effect at 9 p.m. tonight and expire at noon tomorrow.

At noon Tuesday, the thermometer read 8 degrees below zero with a wind chill value of 27 degrees below zero. The high slated for this afternoon is 1 degree below zero.

As evening approaches, winds from 10 to 15 mph will take overnight wind chills from 25 to 35 degrees below zero.

People who must venture outdoors are strongly urged to wear hats and gloves. Make sure outdoor pets have proper shelter and that indoor pets let outside to go to the bathroom are not left out for long periods of time.

On Wednesday, conditions are expected to remain sunny and cold, with a high near 2 degrees. Northwest winds from 10 to 14 mph will take wind chills to as low as 21 to 31 degrees below zero.

The mercury is expected to start climbing with a high of 10 on Thursday, 26 on Friday and 32 on Saturday.
