Easton woman dies in collision

WELLS — A 78-year-old Easton woman died earlier this week after a head-on collision in rural Wells.

The woman has been identified as Marjorie Schultz.

According to a news release from the Faribault County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on 150th Street in Walnut Lake Township on Monday.

The release stated Schultz was stuck near the crest of a hill on 150th Street when a second vehicle, driven by Joseph Stevermer of Easton, struck Schultz’s vehicle head-on.

Schultz was transported by ambulance to the hospital but was later transported by helicopter to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester where she died from injuries she sustained from the crash.

Stevermer was not injured.

The Faribault County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Wells Police Department, Wells Ambulance and Wells Fire Department.

Schultz’s death notice states a Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells.

A Rosary will begin at 9:15 a.m. Saturday morning at the church followed by an hour visitation before the service.
