The following are some of the active volunteer opportunities in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of these or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Boy Scouts of America: Right here in Albert Lea and Freeborn County, boys in afterschool programs are hoping you can be a leader for them in a scout group. Scouting leaders receive training and work with area mentors and have access to the weekly programs through the Scouts’ website. You can contact Paula Nuessmeier at 507-520-11055 or paula@twinvalleybsa.org to get started. Summer activities are coming soon.
Pelican Breeze: The Pelican Breeze Foundation is seeking interested people to work as first mates and captains on the Pelican Breeze II. We are also looking for volunteers to help with additional duties/operation of the boat’s scenic tours. For more information call 373-9084.
Crisis Response Team: This April/May training prepares you to be available to help our community members who have been affected by natural or human-made trauma. Applications are available at the Freeborn County Human Services reception desk or call the Crime Victims Crisis Center, Rose Olmsted, CRT Coordinator at 507-377-5461. Please apply before April 4.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
