Prom dress exchange is Saturday
The second annual Tiger Closet will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the commons area of Albert Lea High School. Gently-used formal dresses can be bought for $25 or $50 and all proceeds go to the Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women.

Tuesday is Election Day for registered voters in Albert Lea Ward 1 and Freeborn County’s 5th District. Mike Lee and Tony Pestorious are the two candidates in the general election for Freeborn County 5th District Commissioner’s race.
The city primary election will narrow the playing field from five candidates to two for the vacant 1st Ward Albert Lea City Council seat. Dave Klatt, Harold Kamrath, Stuart Olson, George Gillespie and John Schulte V are the candidates in this race.
Ag luncheon
The Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce agricultural committee is hosting its 6th annual Agriculture Luncheon at noon Tuesday at Fairlane Building of the Fairlane Building of the Freeborn County Fairgrounds. The event will include featured speaker Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner Dave Frederickson. The the 2011 Farm Family of the Year will be announced. Admission is $10 per person, and the general public is invited to attend. The event is held on National Ag Day. This is also National Ag Week, which began Sunday and runs through Saturday.
Skating show this weekend
The Albert Lea Figure Skating Club will present its 50th annual show, “Celebration! 50 years on Ice” at 7 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Albert Lea City Arena. Tickets are available through club members, at Doyle’s Hallmark in the Northbridge Mall and at the door.
All-Area girls team to be announced
The All-Area girls’ basketball team, Player of the Year and Coach of the Year will be announced Sunday in the Tribune. The team will consist of 15 local players on a first, second and third team.
