The Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce is again asking for the public’s help in choosing a theme for this year’s Third of July Parade.
Possible parade themes, selected by the chamber staff, include the following:
• “American Inventions”
• “Red, White and Blue, Old Time Traditions”
• “Celebrate Our Armed Forces”
• “American Film History”
• “Fantastic Adventures in American History”
• “Patriotic Memories”
• “Freeborn County, Past, Present and Future”
People can vote for their favorite theme by voting in person at the chamber office at Northbridge Mall or by going to the chamber’s website at www.albertlea.org/parade.htm through April 6. The winning theme will be announced the week after, and then parade participants will decorate their floats according to the theme.
“It’s an opportunity to let your voice be heard and to be included,” said chamber Operations Manager Tami Jensen.
She encouraged people who attend the parade — including people from out of town — to offer their feedback.
This is the third year the chamber has sought public input in choosing a theme.
Parade themes during the last five years include, “Hometown Heroes” in 2010, “Heart of America” in 2009, “Echoes of the Past” in 2008, “American Moments” in 2007 and “Remembering the Past, Embracing the Future” in 2006.
