The cause of a two-car crash Saturday that sent two people to the hospital was because one of the drivers ran a red light.
According to an Albert Lea Police Department report on the crash, a 2005 Dodge Caravan traveling eastbound along West Main Street at 11:23 a.m. Saturday crashed into a 1998 Chevy Silverado truck traveling along U.S. Highway 69. The report said Neil Chalmers, 40, of Albert Lea, took his eyes off the road momentarily and was unable to stop his Caravan when the light turned red.
Chalmers’ minivan struck a pickup driven by Larry George Reinlasoder, 71, of Walters. Chalmers and his passenger, Abigail Chalmers, 7, were transported to Albert Lea Medical Center by ambulance.
According to an Albert Lea Medical Center spokeswoman, Abigail and Neil Chalmers were treated and released the same day.
