Editor’s note: We thought you would like to get to know some of our journalists. Last week and today in the editorial space, the members of the Tribune newsroom write about their interests.
Top 5 things to do
1. Historical research
2. Listening to music, with emphasis on band music
3. Sightseeing
4. Reading, and keeping up with current events
5. Writing, especially for the Tribune
With the exception of No. 2 in this listing, I can safely comment that the remaining four favorites are based on my activities here at the Tribune.
The historical research is mostly accomplished at the Freeborn County Historical Museum Library, plus the exhibits. Also, people will ask me about a topic or person from the past that requires further researching. Some of this can be done at the museum and some can be done by sightseeing for specific details around the area.
Reading can be done for relaxation, research, and certainly for keeping up with current events. From this reading I’ve picked up ideas for possible columns and even localizing a topic for the benefit of the Tribune’s readers.
All this reading, research and even sightseeing results in columns and articles that are written and published to hopefully be informative for the people of the Albert Lea area and for folks who now live elsewhere who still retain a close association with this community.
