Genevieve Stoltz, 96, Wells

Genevieve Arlene Stoltz, age 96, of Wells, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at Parkview Care Center. Funeral services will be held Monday, at 10:30 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The Rev. Kathy Fullarton will officiate and a burial will take place in Rosehill Cemetery, Wells, Faribault County.
Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family with arrangements.
Genevieve was born Sept. 13, 1914, in Walnut Lake Township, the daughter of Herman and Ida (Hansen) Sorensen. On Dec. 11, 1930, she was united in marriage to Fred C. Stoltz in Mankato. Genevieve was a member of card clubs, the Birthday Club, Alanon and her church circles. She worked at Stampers for a time and sold Avon. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, playing cards, playing games and doing crossword puzzles.
Genevieve is survived by her daughters: Joyce Schreiber of Albert Lea; Carol Peterson (special friend Dick Wobschall) of Albert Lea; Mary Lea (Allan) Van Horn of Wells; grandchildren: Beth Kurtz, Susan (John) Lapakko, Julie (Kevin) Grahn, John Schreiber, Scott (Cindi) Hass, Shawn (Mike) Melchert, Shelly (Rick) Connors, Tim Hass, David Ulstad (special friend Jan Guest), Jeffrey Ulstad, Tom (Sue) Van Horn, Fred (Jane) Van Horn; 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; sister Pearl Homoko of Mountain Home, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter Shirley; granddaughter Barbara Schreiber; and great-grandchildren: Shane Damrow, Eric Kurtz and Gretchen Kurtz; brother Orla Sorensen and sisters Eloise Neitzel, Bertha Vogelsang, Marion McDaniels and Laurel in infancy.
