Here are highlights in history for March 4, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1993 — The Tribune’s food page was featuring area cooks and their recipes. For this issue the cook was Norrine Monsen. One of her recipes was for a carrot cake.
1983 — The Tribune’s television guide had program listings for 11 stations. Nine of these station listings were for regular television channels and two more were for cable channels.
1953 — A city-wide scrap drive resulted in 6,000 pounds of metal and 500 pounds of rags. This drive was a fundraiser for Camp Moraine and sponsored by the Albert Lea Y’s Mens Club.
