Here are highlights in history for March 13, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1984 — The Albert Lea plant of Wilson Foods was sold to Keith Barnes, president of CornBelt Meats, Inc. (The CornBelt firm later became Farmstead.)
1974 — Gibson’s store on Southeast Broadway Avenue was selling the Beatles first record album for $1.69. Their Tribune ad also listed seven other Beatles albums also for sale at the store.
1964 — Demolition was underway on Albert Lea’s concrete water tower at the north end of Newton Avenue.
