Here are highlights in history for March 23, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1987 — Kathy Jensen was the Tribune’s correspondent for the Clarks Grove area.

1977 — A filter bed on Bancroft Creek north of Albert Lea failed to remove phosphorous that had been polluting Fountain Lake. A news report said this stream was “the (largest)) single natural source of nutrient pollution to the local lake system.”

1967 — Demolition of the old east portion of Albert Lea’s Central High School was underway as part of an expansion project.
