Here are highlights in history for March 24, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1988 — Gerry Vogt, president of Mrs. Gerry’s Kitchen of Albert Lea, was named runner-up as Minnesota’s Small Business Person of the Year.
1978 — A brown and white rabbit, 7-feet tall, was being used as part of an Easter display at Albert Lea’s Red Owl Store on South Broadway Avenue. Sometime during the night hours someone stole this stuffed critter.
1968 — Pollyanne Ball was the winner of the Miss Albert Lea Pageant. Kathy Nielsen was the first runner-up.
