LAKE MILLS, Iowa — The back side of a car was reportedly clipped by a train on Friday afternoon near the intersection of Main Street and Park Street in this community.
No one was injured.
According to Lake Mills Police Chief Dave Thompson, the car — driven by Russell Haugen — was traveling eastbound on West Main Street near Don’s Motor Mart, 404 W. Main St., when it collided with the train, which was traveling southbound on the nearby tracks.
The crash took place just before 1:30 p.m.
Thompson said Haugen stopped prior to the railroad crossing after seeing flashing lights. He reportedly did not see the train coming and proceeded through the intersection.
The train hit near the far back side of the driver’s side of the car.
Other than the damage to the rear of the vehicle, the car is reportedly still functional, he said.
