USC wrestler Dylla advances to state title match

ST. PAUL — United South Central 140-pounder Dustin Dylla advanced to the Class A state individual championship match Saturday with a 3-2 win over Kimball Area’s Tyler Kuechle at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Dylla led 2-0 after a takedown in the first period and 2-1 entering the third. The wrestlers exchanged one-point escapes in the third and Dylla held off multiple shots in the final seconds to win.

Dylla will wrestle Pierz’s Clint Postner, the undefeated No. 1-ranked wrestler in the state, at 7:30 p.m. tonight in the championship.

The only other Rebels wrestler competing Saturday, 112-pounder Dylan Herman, was pinned by Mick Roemer, of Wabasha-Kellogg/Alma, in 1 minute and 47 seconds in the consolation quarterfinals.
