The Albert Lea area looks to be on the western edge of yet another developing thunderstorm today that could produce large hail and damaging winds, according to the National Weather Service.

Its hazardous weather outlook also says the storm could yield tornadoes, though the main threat will be in Wisconsin.

It says the storms are expected “to redevelop by this afternoon across east central into south central Minnesota and move rapidly into west central Wisconsin.”

A thunderstorm moved through the Albert Lea area Saturday night, though precipitation readings were not available Sunday morning.

The weather service also says many rivers in the area remain in flood stages and will remain so through the week. The most notable high rivers are the Mississippi, Minnesota, St. Croix, Cottonwood, West Fork Des Moines, Redwood, Black, Chippewa and Long Prairie. Significant flooding continues to occur along the Red River of the North.

In Albert Lea, the forecast for Sunday night calls for continuing rain and wind. More rain could fall Monday morning, but skies on Monday should clear, leaving the area with a sunny day on Tuesday.
