Clara Twedt, 80, Austin

Clara Annabelle Twedt, 80, of Austin died Monday April 4, 2011 at Grand Meadow Health Care Center, where she had resided for the past two weeks.
Clara A. Sukow was born January 29, 1931 in Dexter, Minnesota to Karl and Martha (Fuerstenberg) Sukow. After graduating from Austin High School in 1949, she worked for Hormel for thirty years. Clara was united in marriage to Dean Richard Twedt on August 1, 1975 in Austin. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included bowling, reading, crossword puzzles, bingo, taking casino trips, and playing cards. She was a big fan of Minnesota sports, including the Twins, Vikings, and Timberwolves.
Survivors include her children, Steven (Ann) Thompson of Lanesboro and step-daughter Jackie (Jerry) Reuter of Austin; four grandchildren, Bradley, Scott, and Stacy Reuter and Kelly Twedt; four great-grandchildren; sisters Lois M. Anderson and Dorothy Stern of Austin, Elizabeth J. (Betty) Kraby of The Villages, Florida; brother Leo A. Sukow of Albert Lea. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dean R. Twedt on January 23, 2010; sisters Helen G. Schlichting and Phyllis L. Myrhe; brothers Charles H. Sukow and George A. Sukow.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday April 7, 2011 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Glenn Monson officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family prefers memorials to Our Saviors Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.
