Funeral services for Leona Ruble, 87, of Austin will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Moscow Lutheran Church. The Rev. Bob Berthold will officiate. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery. Leona died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Sacred Heart Nursing Home in Austin.
Leona Ruble was born on April 10, 1923, to Eddie and Mabel (Johnson) Thoreson in Ostrander. She grew up on a farm in Ostrander and graduated from LeRoy High School in 1941. On Sept. 19, 1942, Leona was united in marriage to T.M. (Jim) Ruble in Ostrander. Leona kept very busy as a homemaker and raising the couple’s five sons. She was an active member of the Moscow Lutheran Church. Leona enjoyed knitting, making lefse, gardening, fishing and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children: Jerred (Eileen) Ruble, Steve (Cindy) Ruble, Daniel (Bonnie) Ruble and Joyce Ruble; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters: Mary Ellen (Gordon) Meyers, Arlene Swenson and Joan Thorson; sister-in-law, Arlene Thoreson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; sons: Randy Ruble, Craig Ruble and one son in infancy; and brother, Elwood Thoreson.
