Lions top Wolverines 12-7

Devin Cooper hit a solo home run Monday but the Glenville-Emmons Wolverines softball team couldn’t recover from a 7-0 first-inning deficit and lost at Spring Grove/Caledonia.

Trailing 11-1 in the top of the fifth, the Wolverines (1-3, 1-2 Southeast) scored five runs to extend the game.

Cooper finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Jennaca Haines was 2-for-4 with a two-run double in the fifth with the bases loaded.

The Wolverines play again at 4:30 p.m. Thursday against Hope Lutheran (0-1, 0-1) in Winona.
