Here are highlights in history for April 13, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1989 — Albert Lea Eagles donated $1,000 to the Gateway Child Care Center for the purchase of equipment and supplies.

1979 — Federal funds were approved for the S.E. Marshall Renewal Plan. This would result in the demolition of 15 homes south of S.E. Marshall St., north of the railroad tracks, and between Garfield and David Avenues.

1969 — A tornado warning system using 20 spotters in different parts of Freeborn Country was started by Civil Defense Director Harry Olson.
