Here are highlights in history for April 17, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1992 — A Tribune column was based on “Farewell Philbert,” the senior class play at Albert Lea High School in 1970.
1982 — The Schultheis Service Station at the corner of West Main Street and First Avenue sold gas for 95.3 cents a gallon for 95 minutes as part of an open house. As a result, a real traffic jam was created.
1942 — The all-school play, “She’s Got Everything,” was presented at the Albert Lea High School auditorium. The lead characters were portrayed by Margot Ann Hanson and Earl Jacobson.
