Here are highlights in history for April 20, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1985 — The Monster Arm Wrestling Tournament would take place on April 24 at Pour-Boys Bar and Lounge, 233 S. Newton Ave.

1975 — A bill authorizing the expansion of Helmer Myre State Park by 561 acres was passed by the state legislature. Co-sponsors of this bill were Sen. C.R. (Baldy) Hanson (DFL-Austin) and Rep. Henry Savelkoul (R-Albert Lea).

1955 — A test alert conducted by the Albert Lea National Guard unit resulted in a quick response by five officers and 50 enlisted men.
